Mindful Practice Group Logo

A warm welcome to our monthly Mindful Practice Group. This informal monthly drop in group is open to anyone who has some basic mindfulness meditation experience. This get-together is a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with our mindfulness practice as well as each other, but most importantly to spend time in a safe and protected space in the spirit of maintaining our sense of balance, health, wellbeing and compassion. Everyone is welcome, whether you haven’t done any practice since the course or have done very little or have a regular mindfulness practice, this group is for you and I would love to see you. Who will be facilitating the group?

The group will be facilitated Robert Gebka, our mindfulness teacher. This group is mainly for individuals who would like to be guided in their meditation. If you prefer an unguided group and sit in silence then you are more than welcome to attend our weekly Mindful Monday Sitting Group.

Robert is a student of Ahbay Rinpoche and is Qualified Mindfulness Teacher with the University of California San Diego Centre for Mindfulness. He is former Buddhist monk who lived, worked and trained for five years at the Nan Hua Zen Buddhist monastery before joining the NHS. He is an accredited psychological counsellor and has completed a two year project in Mindfulness Based Interventions in an NHS psychiatric hospital with a clinical population. What kind of mindfulness meditations will we practice?

We will be guiding a variety of meditations practices ranging from Awareness of Breath, Body Scan, Self-compassion etc, depending on the theme of the month.

What is the difference between this and the Mindful Monday Sitting Group?

The monthly Mindful Practice Group is guided by Robert and is a longer 2.5 hour session. You can ask questions about your meditation practice as well as share your experience with others. The monthly group will have a theme and the participants will be invited to practice a specific meditation as guided by the mindfulness teacher. The Mindful Monday Sitting Group is unguided and for people who wish to simply sit in silence and self-guide their meditation. Although there are people who host the group there are no teachers to guide or offer meditation advice. Also, there are no opportunities to ask any questions or to share your experience. The Mindful Monday group is shorter approximately 1.5 hours long. If you prefer an unguided group and sit in silence then you are more than welcome to attend our weekly Mindful Monday Sitting Group.

What do I need to bring?

We will provide the safe space, lots of love, chairs to sit on as well as snacks, cordial and water. If preferred, please bring your own meditation stool etc and or pillow and blanket if you wish to do a lying down meditation.

Do I need to book the session?

You do not need to book as this is a drop-in group, just arrive on the evening.

Ticket price: £10 per person for the two and a half hour evening experience payable on the evening. This is to help us cover the venue cost.
