According to Psychoneuroimmunology and Behavioural medicine there is a link between what happens in our mind and our physical health. In other words, our thoughts, emotions and memories affect the wellbeing of our body. The opposite is also true where the state of our body  affects the wellbeing of our mind. 

You might have heard of the term “the body keeps the score.” It is a phrase is coined by Dr Bessel van der Kolk which suggests that our chronic stress, unresolved emotional complexities and trauma often gets stored in our body, deep in our muscular tissues. This means that our body remembers that we psychologically forget.


Mindful therapies such as therapeutic massage, reflexology and Reiki are typically regarded as non-verbal therapies (or require minimal conversation) and focus using therapeutic touch as a way of releasing blocked energy, emotions and memories which are often stored within the body, experienced as tension, discomfort, pain, anxiety and or depression. This allows for a greater sense of release, integration and healing which can lead to greater health as well as mental and emotional wellbeing. Our therapies can also support you in your post and long Covid recovery.


Personally tailored to your needs

All of our Mindful Therapies are delivered in a person centred and personalised way. Our intention is to tailor the therapy in a way that works for you, approaching with your strengths and vulnerabilities in a way that is mindful, wise and compassionate. 


We offer the following therapies:

All therapies include a short grounding mindfulness meditation at the start and end of the session. This is followed by some optional sharing to help integrate the therapeutic healing experience.

REFLEXOLOGY: This is a type of therapeutic feet massage which stimulates healing, release and rejuvenation of the whole body and mind. It is ideal for anxiety, depression, chronic stress and illness as well as general wellbeing.

60 minutes session: £45

THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE: This is a type of touch therapy that uses high quality volcanic basalt hot stones to massage various areas of the body. It is ideal for chronic stress, body tension, muscular pain and discomfort as well as general relaxation. 
30 minutes back, neck, shoulder massage: £35
60 minutes full body massage: £65

REIKI HEALING: This is a type of traditional Japanese energy healing that utilises the body’s own inner capacity for restorative healing. It is ideal for anxiety, depression, emotional difficulties and as well as physical health conditions.

60 minutes healing session: £45

About your therapist

Clare Clements is a Holistic therapist with over 20 years’ experience in the field. She is a qualified reflexologist as well as massage therapist and enjoys offering these therapies to those who wish to enhance their sense of wellbeing. She trained as a mindfulness teacher with Zen Ways and is passionate about living life in a “simple” and compassionate way. Clare is also a Reiki master and uses this form of energy healing with clients who wish to live life with greater ease, wisdom and compassion. Clare has full professional indemnity insurance and is covered to practice professionally. She lives in Bournemouth with her partner and her two and a half year old daughter.

We adhere to the UK Government guidance and the safety and wellbeing of our clients and therapists has always been our top priority. Our face to face sessions are fully Covid secure. All our therapists are tested regularly using rapid lateral flow test. Our offices areas are regularly disinfected and have large windows with plenty of natural airflow.

Where are the sessions held?

All sessions are held at the our serene and calming office located at the Dorset Mindfulness Centre, 36 Gervis Road, Bournemouth BH1 3DH. This service is offered on Mondays and Saturdays 9.30am to 5.30pm. Alternative weekday and evening time appointments are offered upon request.
