Dorset Mindfulness Centre is actively involved in research with University of Derby, University of Wolverhampton and Exeter University. The research projects are investigating the effects of several meditation techniques taught at the Dorset Mindfulness Centre on chronic sleep problems, anxiety and depression as well as markers of inflammation, cortisol, physiological variables such as blood pressure.

Our training team & advisory board

All training is led by Robert Gebka, the Executive Director of the Dorset Mindfulness Centre. Robert is a Qualified MBSR Teacher with the University of California San Diego Medical School, USA. He is former Buddhist monk who lived, worked and trained for five years at the Nan Hua Zen Buddhist monastery before joining the NHS. It is during this time that he was fortunate enough to meet HH the 14th Dalai Lama. He is an accredited psychological counsellor and has completed a two year project in Mindfulness Based Interventions in an NHS psychiatric hospital with a clinical population. He is also the author Managing Depression with Mindfulness for Dummies. Robert studied the neuroscience and physiology of mindfulness with Neuragy UK and is a registered member of the UK Network for Mindfulness-Based Teacher Training Organisations. He abides by their Good Practice Standards for teaching mindfulness-based courses. His mindfulness work is supervised by the managing director of the UCSD CFM. We offer the following Mindfulness for business programmes:

Introductory Mindfulness Seminars

1 to 25 delegates. A tailor-made one or two hour Introduction to Mindfulness. Delegates will be introduced to the fundamental idea of mindfulness and how mindfulness can be used in a practical way to help reduce stress and enhance a sense of wellbeing. This event is held at the place of work. Delegates will receive an online Mindfulness CD to support their own practice.

 

Half-Day or Full-Day tailor-made workshops & masterclasses

1 to 20 delegates. This enables delegates to gain a deeper understanding into Mindfulness. This workshop also provides an opportunity to explore ways in which mindfulness could be integrated into daily work/life. This event is held at relaxed local hotel venue. Delegates will receive an online Mindfulness CD to support their own practice.

 

8- Week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction courses

1 to 25 delegates. This course 8 Week systematic evidence based programme is designed to effectively support people with stress, empowering them to enhance their sense of wellbeing. It teaches mindfulness and basic mindful body movement exercises such as yoga to cultivate awareness and reduce stress. Delegates will also receive an online Mindfulness CD to support their own practice.
